Having seen the official picture of Brandon Routh in his Superman costume (below), I, like many other fans, had a few thoughts. The colours are a bit too dull; it reminds me more of the suit the evil Superman wore in Superman III, plus I think the shield is a tad on the small side. Oh, and it’s a plasticy shield rather than part of the suit, but hey I can live with that.
I was at a mate’s house recently when I flicked through the July 2005 copy of Empire magazine, the one in which they published the picture of Routh. It had this to say:
‘’Brave man, is Brandon Routh. Not only is the unknown 25 year-old stepping into the red spandex shorts of the late, great Christopher Reeve in Bryan Singer’s Superman revamp, he has to do it in a costume that hasn’t gone down too well with the fanboys.
“The red’s too dark”, “The logo’s too small”, “I haven’t seen a woman naked” are just three complaints emanating from the geek community.’’
Bugger.
