A People-Watching Note

There’s a bridge at Kings Cross station that I cross every day, to get from platform to platform (it’s in the Harry Potter films apparently, near Platform 9 and 3/4). This isn’t a post about famous bridges, but the people I noticed this morning climbing the steps. It reminded me of a pub I was in once where you had to walk up a great sweeping staircase to go to the toilets, on full view of everyone (so you had to be quick as people would notice. Poos were therefore ruled out). Something my mates and I deduced by watching people, a bit like the old saying about picking up a frisbie…
You just can’t look cool climbing stairs. Have a look next time. Sure, people try the old jog, and sometimes coming down, they pull it off. But going up? Nah.
