Stuff about me and this site
Last updated 23 March 2007
My name is Stuart Hall and I'm a commentator on Radio Five Live and an ex-presenter of TV's 'It's a Knockout!'. Of course I'm not, I just share the same name, but boy does it open doors for me.
I'm a Web Designer / Developer, originally from Cheshire but have lived in lots of places since, from Winchester to Donny to Melbourne to London. Currently randomly residing in Leicester Nottingham, where when I'm not busy working or playing
Football Manager, I spend my time annoying my wonderfully tolerant girlfriend,
Louise.
I currently work for a design company in London where I spend most of my time trying to persuade people that sitting daydreaming and surfing the interweb IS actually work. Fellow designers will realise this genuinely isn't a lie, and those designers who do agree and are in a position to employ, please get in touch.
I used to be a Cartoonist / Caricaturist / Illustrator but after deciding in 1998 that I needed an online portfolio, I bought myself a 'Teach Yourself HTML 4.0' book, got hooked, and pursued that instead. I never did get that portfolio finished. Illustration is still a passion of mine and I still draw when I get the chance.
For the past few years I've been designing and developing web sites with web standards in mind. This site is hand coded in XHTML and CSS, but that's to be expected now, right?
Peminoz is built using, well, pretty much just Notepad; it's fully hand-coded although I use TopStyle and Dreamweaver as well to 'keep my hand in'. A smidgen of Flash may appear every once in a while whenever I get the urge. It is powered by electricity, phone lines and Textpattern, and is hosted by U2-Web. The site should display properly(ish) on all browsers, but it's best viewed in Mozilla Firefox.
Oh yeah, the name of this site is taken from the fact that I used to live in Australia. Pem in Oz. Pem? Oh that's slightly harder to explain.
And yes, it is my silhouette in the sofa pic. Arrogant huh?
